Archery first entered the Olympic programme at Paris 1900 before a break of 52 years between 1920 and 1972. A truly a historic sport – Archery is a contest of mind and body control, as well as precision – and has roots dating back to its use as a weapon of hunting and war in ancient times.
Team GB have claimed 9 Olympic medals over the years, with British archer William Dod winning gold at the 1908 Olympic Games at White City, London.
